This kayak is slightly modernized adaptation of the traditional Greenland kayak. The wooden frame is fairly traditional, however the high tech Dacron skin coated with a 2 part urethane coating is a significant departure from the tradition al seal skin exteriors

Here is a detailed look at the cockpit coaming juxtaposed with the interior framing and kayak skin. The coaming is a significant departure from tradition-- it is a mixture of cold molded wooden laminations reinforced with fiberglass/epoxy. If you look closely you can see the lashings holding all of the framing members together.
